Haul(ish)

Just a few things I've picked up recently and would like to share with you all.

Brown Leather Shoulder Bag -
I got this from a vintage shop for 50p, yes 50p. I absolutely love it, such a bargain!

Silver Snakeskin Pumps -
I love love love these shoes. They're in a size 7 which makes me so happy as I'm usually a size 8 - 9. They're from DPs, £18

Rose & Co. Lip salve -
'Sweet Vanilla Salve with Beeswax & Honey', 'To smooth and soften the lips'. This was quite a pricey lipsalve, well compared to my usual Vaseline but I'm a sucker for cute packaging. It has cute little bees round the side as well.

Rimmel Lycra Pro Nail varnish in Beige Style -
I really like nude shades of nail varnish and eye shadow so this was perfect for me and the new brush is so good. It covers the whole nail in like two strokes and no need for a second coat! The pic shows the colour in all its glory. Would look even better with a tan *sob*


Grey Felt Flower Earrings-
I picked these up on my recent trip to York from a cute little jewellery shop on one of the tiny little streets. It was in the sale so they were only £1.90 *bargain*

If you haven't noticed already I have tiny ears ^-^ tehe

Soap & Glory Scrub Actually -
'An absolute smash of a body buffer, with smoothing brown sugar, white sugar and natural apricot kernel oil'. I've already tried their 'Flake Away' body scrub but in my opinion this is the better of the two. The bottle that I picked up had a WINNER sticker on it. Apparently it won the Beauty Insider's Choice award and I can see why. It smells GORGEOUS and doesn't leave a horrible layer on your skin after you wash it off. It's just deliciously soft and smooth and squeaky clean.

Xen-Tan Deep Bronze Luxe 236ml -
The search is over for the perfect fake tan. I have found it. Behold Xen-Tan. 'Xen-Tan Premium Sunless Tan products are designed to have more olive undertone and delicious scents. High quality ingredients combine with realistic colour for a long wearing sunless tan.' The one I picked was the Deep Bronze Luxe product as it also has sheer instant colour so you can see just where you are applying it. It also smells lovely, like vanilla fudge. I'm in the minority in the fact that I actually like the smell of normal fake tan. Who doesn't like the smell of biscuits? But I've got to admit that this smells ten times nicer. It's also the only fake tan that I've managed to get streak free. I used a mit when applying it and it all worked wonderfully and I now have bronzed legs. Hurrah. Hopefully it should fade evenly *fingers crossed*!

This is the colour when it comes out of the bottle. And a little to the left is when it's rubbed in slightly. I don't know if you can see it or not. It looks a bit grey but it develops to a lovely olive brown :)

40s and 60s styles

At the moment I'm working as a waitress / bar staff in a hotel in Haworth (where the Bronte sisters lived) and last week the Haworth Traders Association put on a 60s weekend, where basically the whole village dressed up 60's style. All of the shops were decorated and there was a parade of 60s vehicles down the street. It was just basically a weekend to boost tourism. Anyway, I decided to join in the fun and go the whole hog and here are the results.

I bought a white shift dress from the sale in Dorothy Perkins which was such a good find.

I'm sure I only paid £15 for it. Win. It was a bit impractial for pulling pints and I did end up giving a few people an eyeful bending down for things on the bottom shelf. Woops. I was wearing MASSIVE white knickers though for security purposes.

For my hair and makeup I followed Pixiwoo's Girls Aloud The Promise Video Tutorial on YouTube. It was really easy to follow and I just used the makeup I already had. I've well and truly run out of liquid eyeliner now though. Excuse the tum and fat arm.


Yes, this is in my bathroom but it's the only full length mirror in my house. And I had to use my phone because my camera is currently running on empty. The big white earrings are from Claire's at a sweet £3.

I love how big my eyes look, I guess that's exactly the point.

In May we also had a 40s weekend. lol. This hairstyle was a lot harder to achieve but it made me feel really girly which I enjoyed.

This picture is slightly edited to make it look more like those iconic 40s poster prints you see around in vintage shops :) I did have bright red lipstick on before but it had rubbed off by the time I took this photo.

I finally finished off this piece from ages ago. It's a watercolour / sketch of Ladyhawke in the style of Sarah Larnach who did the artwork for her video 'My Delirium'.



I really like the whole feel of the almost 'incompleteness' of her work with the sketchy pencil lines in contrast to the dark shadows. Me like. I do like inky, watercolour sketches :)
